Batman The risk and reward of immense power

It's no mystery that the powers that Batman possesses, are what made him a fan favourite, his vast amount of abilities is always a topic of conversation for fans worldwide. But what isn’t discussed enough is how his powers may negatively impact him and his loved ones. So let us bring a new topic of conversation to the table and discuss the negatives and risks that come with the power that is Batman.

Ask any person fan or not the first power that comes to mind when asked about Batman is his strength and agility, these are gifts that offer many rewards, protection, stability and security to all that know or knew him, however on the other end lets talk about the risk and harm that comes along with it, with great strength great control need to follow, every person has a limit to be pushed too far, with most a firm punch or shove will get the point across, but from a man with a power like his that shove can leave the guilt of serious injury or worse behind. Having power means living with the risks that come with it.

In this day and age Batman's intellect and willpower would be up there with the greatest minds in history, darwin, einstein and others that may come to mind, we don't think the reward with intellect needs explaining, but even this has its risks, with a smart decision comes irrelevant ones, the mind cannot perceive the hazards great intellect can have, a simple math equation could be the answer to understanding the universe in a new way, it is reported that intelligent people struggle to comprehend the world through emotion, but through logic and analytics, causing difficulty in other aspects of life, love, happiness and hope, always looking for the logical explanation, causing you to stay in one place never moving forward. Is this the world through batman's eyes?

Precognition is a word heard but maybe never fully understood, the foresight, the third eye, the power to see that which has not yet happened, as amazing as this is, seeing it doesn't mean you can prevent the inevitable from happening, knowing that the premonition you see or that he sees may include death, injury and loss but how can you prevent something like a terminal illness that inevitably leads to someone's death, seeing it, knowing you cannot change it. Living with this cannot be easy, and for some may destroy them. His power though great and mighty must be filled with pain.

The saying hears no evil, see no evil, speak no evil is very well used and interpreted, but what if a fourth was added, feel no evil? Batman has a power many long for to not feel physical pain, and if he does is able to push it aside like it is the easiest thing on the planet, how would he know the things that hurt, the things that burn? Like said before how do you know the oven burns if you never feel the pain from it, how do

you know that something hurts if you never experience it, if one day his power faded, he would need to learn all this that others already know, causing isolation, frustration and a damaged mind. He heals like magic, some may say he has an immortal streak, but living a life where others hurt and die when he heals from that crash, and they don’t leave this world when he didn’t, he can heal his body but how easy can he heal a traumatised mind.

His most spoken and feared power is the power of fear itself, he sends fear through the worst people on this planet. Gives him a major advantage, but hear us out, how does he deal with being the most feared person, he may do good, and he may help others, but no person wants to be feared all the time, hell most don't want to be any of the time, you hear of a mystery man that shoots fear through the most hardened criminal, would you want to know this person? Would you put your loved ones near him, when even the sweetest souls have a breaking point? The best people have a dark side, if it rears its head in them, batman would no longer be the hero, but the villain he hunts, that is the risk of being feared.
